Golf packages to the southwest of Ireland are normally centred on playing the 'big four' courses at Ballybunion, Waterville, Tralee and Lahinch. Old Head of Kinsale is often included in the itinerary. Most golfers spend the majority of nights in Killarney, Ireland's tourist capital. Portsalon is recommended as the best value golf course in Ireland. Donegal golf links should not be overlooked and Rosses Point (County Sligo Golf Club) is just a little further south. The greatest choice of courses is available in the eastern golf region centred around Dublin. There are several world class links including Royal County Down, Portmarnock and The European Club. There are also several championship parkland courses including The K-Club, Carton House and Druids Glen. Dublin City is an attractive base for golf packages in the east although there are several charming options on the coast outside Dublin including Portmarnock, Howth, Malahide and Killiney. Further afield are Drogheda and Newcastle (home of Royal County Down) and in County Wicklow, the most scenic county in eastern ireland, there are several choices.
